NATWEST bank SUCKS big time too. Actually, the entire UK banking system sucks.
To cut a long story short: the root of my woes is that bank transfers take between 5-10 days, which resulted in this instance in me paying SIXTY pounds total in "valid" (I quote the bank officer here) bank charges.
Firstly, bank transfers only take "5-10 days" in THIRD WORLD countries.
Secondly, what kind of half-ass period is "5-10 days" - how are people supposed to plan their finances this way?
I'm closing my account after 7 years of oppression and taking up with HSBC instead.
Tell me you haven't been through this hell.

Unfortunately this is very common, and its disgraceful in this day and age that bank transfers take so long!
With computerised banking, transfers could be made in seconds, however this isn't done because it gives the bank the chance to use your money for 3 days without paying interest etc. Its essentially a free loan to the bank for the 3 day period!
However, you can claim your charges back. As your charges are only £60, it shouldn't take much more than a phone call, saying you are aware of your rights and threatening to take the bank to court. For £60 its more than likely they will back down on the phone and reverse the charges for you.
Alternatively, if you want to claim it back officially (along with any other charges you`ve received in the last 6 years!), take a look at my web site.
