I paid $9 for this salad at The Providores the other day. Scrumptious as it was, it was still $9 for a salad. So I tried to recreate it at home:
THE PROVIDORES SALMON SALAD
Hot smoked salmon
Green beans
Cos lettuce (substituted w/ Romaine hearts)
Avocado
Mango
Pecans (substituted w/ pine nuts)
"Ikura" / salmon roe (substituted with coarse sea salt)
Rosemary ginger dressing (substituted w/ olive oil+balsamic+rosemary+crushed ginger)
Still scrumptious! I love the contrasts in flavours and textures, and colours, and it has some of my favourite foods in it.
I would still recommend going to The Providores for coffee and pudding. Every year, they sit down with Monmouth Coffee Company (a favourite) to create their very own blend! Plus, how could you resist the lures of Marylebone High Street ("The Village")?
Also, a colleague highly recommended this Marylebone outfit as having the best steaks in London. Curiously, they serve only one dish - l'entrecote. Any hands up for dinner one night?
